B.Sc. (Hons.) Physiotherapy
My name is Audrey Schembri and I am a licensed physiotherapist, by the Maltese Council for the Professions Complementary to Medicine, who is currently practicing in this said profession. I graduated with a First Class Degree (Honours) in physiotherapy in 2014 after completing a four year course at the University of Malta. During this time of study, I also studied abroad for a three month period as an Erasmus exchange student in Copenhagen, Denmark. I have gained experience in the physiotherapy profession in clinics and hospitals here locally in Malta and also overseas in Denmark.
I am currently working at Livelife rehabilitation centre where I form part of the physiotherapy team. This work is focused on the rehabilitation of the individual in order to promote a more independent lifestyle with a better quality of life. Apart from forming part of the Livelife team, I also engage myself in other activities such as teaching stretch and core classes at the Brigitte Gauci Borda school of Dance as well as tending to a football team.
These experiences have broadened my understanding of physiotherapy and have enabled me to have a more holistic approach to the profession. I have also volunteered with the local association of physiotherapists on a number of occasions and my contribution was noted and rewarded. I have also done voluntary work overseas in Ethiopia, Africa where I spent one month carrying out the necessary physiotherapy and care needed by the patients at the Sisters of Mother Theresa in Addis Ababa.
